Activities may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Analyze new hardware and software to determine their need or application in the existing or proposed system.
• Advice on new techniques and estimated costs associated with new or revised programs and utilities – taking into consideration personnel, time, and hardware requirements.
• Review documentation, describing system specifications and operating instructions, and revise existing processes and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements and storage.
• Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems.
• Determine computer software or hardware needed to set up or alter system O/S.
• Train staff and users to work with computer systems and programs.
• Analyze information processing or computation needs and plan and design computer systems.
• Assess the usefulness of pre-developed application packages and adapt them to a user environment.
• Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.
• Review and analyze computer performance indicators to locate code problems, and correct errors by correcting codes.
• Recommend new equipment or software packages.
• Evaluate user requests and recommend standard hardware and software solutions
• Develop technical architectures, frameworks and strategies, for Windows 8 Operating Systems, to meet the business and application requirements.
• Optimize the overall system architecture in terms of total cost of ownership
by assessing third party license costs versus custom developed system components to integrate the Windows 8 or higher Operating Systems.
• Deliver Conceptual Design and Technical Design Documents
• Work with IT Security and Client Access Devices Group to achieve Security Assessment and Accreditation (SA&A).
• Assist IMTD support with issue and incident resolutions as required.
• Provide ongoing support to IMTD support team.
• Analyze, evaluate and document alternative technology solutions to meet business problems.
• Ensure the integration of all aspects of technology Windows 7, Windows 8 and future Windows release solutions.
• Evaluate hardware and software relative to their ability to support specified requirements and, by determining potential and existing bottlenecks, and improve system performance through recommended hardware, GPO, and other software configuration changes.
• Review computer software systems and data requirements as well as communication and response needs and determine operating systems and languages needed to support them.
• Other related activities which may arise as result of new version deployment or support.
